Canon EOS R mirrorless camera features a compact, dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium-alloy body with a new 12-pin Canon RF mount and a shorter flange distance. It has a full-frame (36×24 mm) 30.3 MP CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, a DIGIC 8 processor, a built-in Digital Lens Optimizer, and 4K video recording. Canon EOS R supports Dual Pixel RAW as well as Canon’s 14-bit RAW and lossless compressed C-RAW.
The camera also includes a built-in time-lapse mode for interval video without additional apps or post-processing. Continuous shooting speed with AF locked is 8 fps; with continuous AF it is 5 fps; and in tracking AF mode it is 3 fps.
Maximum video recording resolution is 4K (3840×2160) at up to 30 fps; in Full HD frame rate increases to 60 fps; and in HD up to 120 fps. Maximum recording bitrate is 480 Mb/s.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF phase-detection autofocus is designed for smooth and fast focus transitions on moving subjects during video, and fast autofocus for stills in Live View. It allows smooth focus pulling as a subject moves, keeping it sharp against a blurred background.
Built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enable pairing with smartphones, transferring captured files, and remote shooting control. Compatibility with Canon EF and Canon EF-S lenses is provided via adapters (not included).
