Carl Zeiss Milvus 2/100M ZE is a macro lens that allows shooting from a comfortable distance while also capturing close-up images. It is ideal when maintaining a small distance between the camera and the subject is important, such as in portrait shooting. Precision mechanical components with a long focus throw provide full control, especially valuable for close-range macro work. The lens is based on the symmetric Planar design originally developed by Carl Zeiss in 1896. All Milvus lenses feature ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating; in addition, lens edges are hand-painted with special black lacquer, and internal light traps and treated surfaces help prevent reflections.

The design reduces stray light for high-contrast images and improved dynamic range (HDR). Correction of coma, astigmatism, and spherical aberrations ensures consistently high resolution across the frame. A large rotation angle allows precise focusing, while the high-quality focusing mechanism moves smoothly without backlash. Markings in meters and feet and a focus scale assist manual focusing.
