Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f/1.4 T* ZE lens is based on the famous symmetrical Planar design, one of the most successful optical formulas for still photography. The optical construction includes 7 elements in 6 groups. All elements are made from high-quality glass and undergo multi-stage inspection to meet Zeiss optical standards. On APS-C cameras, the 50 mm focal length provides an equivalent field of view similar to 75 mm in 35 mm format. Minimum focusing distance is 45 cm. Focusing is manual via the lens barrel. During focusing, the lens length changes very little and the front element remains stationary, allowing use of circular polarizers and other accessories that require a fixed front element.
