All elements are made from high-quality glass and undergo multi-stage inspection to meet Zeiss optical standards. Focus and aperture are controlled manually on the lens barrel. During focusing, the lens length changes very little and the front element remains stationary, allowing use of circular polarizers and other accessories that require a fixed front element.
