A beauty dish creates a distinctive lighting pattern by evenly illuminating the subject while producing a directed, soft light flow for subtle rendering of skin texture. It also creates characteristic round catchlights in the subject’s eyes, similar to natural sun reflections. The beauty dish mounts via a Bowens mount (also used on some Raylab and Photodynamic fixtures). It is a practical solution for portrait photography. When used, light from the lamp hits the internal deflector and is distributed across the wide surface of the dish, producing light that is relatively focused yet soft. The characteristic beauty-dish qualities are most pronounced at close distance (approximately 1 meter) from the subject.
Included in the set: Bowens beauty dish 42 cm.
