Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM prime lens (EF series) features a fixed 40 mm focal length, f/2.8 aperture, and quiet STM focusing for video. Suitable for compatible video cameras as well as those needing a versatile, compact, lightweight lens for portraits, reportage, travel, and landscapes.

Autofocus supports tracking AF using stepper motor (STM) technology for smooth, silent focusing during video. Electromagnetic precision aperture control with a rounded 7-blade diaphragm creates soft background blur. An aspherical lens with Super Spectra coating ensures high image quality across the frame. The bright f/2.8 aperture supports low-light shooting without flash, and the f/2.8–f/22 range provides depth-of-field control. Minimum focusing distance is 30 cm.
