Suitable for photojournalists and photographers shooting sports and nature where a 2× increase in subject size is needed and the corresponding loss of maximum aperture is acceptable.
Optical design includes 9 elements in 5 groups with Super Spectra coating to reduce flare and ghosting, minimizing the need for post-processing. Front and rear elements have fluorine coating for easier cleaning without damaging the glass.
An integrated processor ensures accurate data transfer between lens and camera. The Canon Extender 2.0 III processor provides full transmission of focusing, metering, and image identification data for correct exposure and sharpness.
