Carl Zeiss Compact Zoom CZ.2 28-80 T2.9 PL-mount lens (introduced in 2012) is designed for lightweight HD cameras and weighs 2.5 kg, allowing use on light Steadicams. It offers strong optical and mechanical performance, and all CompactZoom lenses cover 4K and 6K sensors.
The PL-mount lens is compatible with full-frame cameras and features an 18-blade circular diaphragm for very smooth background blur. The housing and focus ring design eliminate focus breathing. The front element has Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating for improved contrast and color. Minimum focusing distance is 0.83 m.
The manufacturer states that the Compact Zoom series is 4K-compatible. The lens is color-matched to the Compact Zoom family and Carl Zeiss prime lenses. During zooming, focus does not shift: three independent elements stabilize the focus point.
