Fog filters add drama to a scene by creating a mysterious atmosphere. These filters soften light from bright sources and smooth light-to-shadow transitions caused by excessive sharpness and contrast. Essentially, fog filters create the illusion of real fog by producing a soft ambient glow and a romantic mood. Fog filters (unlike Double Fog) affect all objects in the frame. The number in the filter name indicates the level of fogging (3 levels total). The higher the density, the more unreal the image appears, allowing fairytale or fantasy-looking results.
