Autofocus speed is very slow for most moving subjects and is not suitable for professional use.
Only Canon lenses introduced after 2006 are officially supported. Autofocus does not work with older Canon lenses and most third-party lenses, including Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, and Canotax N lenses modified by Conurus.
On NEX FS-series cameras (camcorders), autofocus is available only in photo mode.
Continuous AF is not supported.
DMF is not supported.
During video recording on NEX cameras (except camcorders, e.g., NEX-7), if the subject moves you must half-press the shutter button to reactivate autofocus and reacquire the subject.
The first two autofocus attempts are used for lens calibration, so the lens may fail to lock; to reacquire, half-press the shutter again.
Autofocus may struggle near the lens’s minimum focusing distance.
Autofocus accuracy strongly depends on lens condition; lenses with hidden issues may show focusing accuracy problems on Sony NEX.
