Nikkor DX AF-S 17–55mm f/2.8G IF-ED lens is designed for cameras with APS-C sensors and can serve as a versatile standard zoom. It is intended for DX-format digital cameras only; with crop factor, the effective focal range is 25–82 mm (35mm equivalent). The optical design includes 14 elements in 10 groups, with ED low-dispersion glass elements and aspherical lenses. This provides low chromatic aberration across the entire frame, accurate color reproduction, high sharpness, and strong contrast. The Nikon SWM (Silent Wave Motor) delivers fast, virtually silent autofocus, and the f/2.8 maximum aperture supports shooting in challenging lighting. The lens is relatively compact, making it convenient for reportage.
