Panasonic GH5 (body) can record UHD 4K video at 60p in 8-bit 4:2:0, includes V-Log, and outputs 10-bit 4:2:2 video to an external recorder (a compatibility list is available from the manufacturer). The camera features a 20.3 MP Live MOS sensor without an optical low-pass filter and a Venus Engine processor, which supports higher resolution, improved color reproduction, and lower noise. Panasonic GH5 includes 5-axis stabilization with Dual I.S. 2.
A dual UHS-II card slot and a large electronic viewfinder simplify operation. A 3.2-inch tilting and rotating touchscreen can be used for settings and framing. Panasonic Defocus AF provides a refocus speed of 480 fps across 225 points, with autofocus time of 0.05 s. With continuous AF, the camera shoots at 9 fps; with locked focus, 12 fps.
Panasonic GH5 is designed for UHD 4K video at 60p and 50p (8-bit 4:2:0) at 150 Mbps without a crop (the full sensor area is used). DCI 4K (24p) and UHD/30p also offer 150 Mbps with 10-bit 4:2:2 color; in these formats, recording to memory cards is possible. Panasonic GH5 outputs 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 60p only to an external recorder via a full-size HDMI port. Internal recording is available in 8-bit 4:2:2. The 6K/4K Photo high-speed burst function allows extracting still frames from recorded sequences in 4:3 or 3:2 with an effective pixel count matching the selected mode.
The camera includes Panasonic Wi-Fi with ultra-fast 802.11ac, as well as Bluetooth and NFC. The BLF19 battery is rated for approximately 410 shots per charge.
