The optical design includes seven elements in five groups, including two aspherical elements for improved image quality. Coated elements reduce flare and help maintain high image quality. Contrast-detect autofocus offers excellent accuracy. A 7-blade aperture forms a near-circular opening for soft background blur. The f/1.7 aperture enables shooting in very low light and expands creative options in normal lighting.
