Sony Alpha 7 III full-frame mirrorless camera features a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor paired with the BIONZ X image processor. Standard ISO range is 100–51,200 (expandable to 50–204,800 for stills). Detail reproduction and localized noise reduction allow high-ISO shooting with low noise and minimal artifacts.

The stabilization system uses 5-axis in-body sensor shift to correct vertical and horizontal shift, rotational shake around the vertical and horizontal axes, and roll around the lens axis. The built-in stabilization can also work together with lenses that have optical stabilization, with both systems complementing each other.

Sony a7 III autofocus can detect and effectively track unpredictably moving subjects, suitable for dynamic scenes. Touch focus and a touchpad function allow easy repositioning of the focus point with a finger while using the viewfinder.

Sony a7 III supports continuous shooting up to 10 fps (or up to 8 fps in live view) with AF/AE tracking. Silent shooting is also supported for shutter-noise-free capture. The camera has two memory card slots, one supporting UHS-II for fast writing, enabling simultaneous or relay recording in RAW and JPEG, photo capture and video recording, and data copying between cards.

For video, the camera offers 4K recording with oversampling and includes the HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) picture profile for HDR capture.

Power is supplied by an NP-FZ100 battery, providing up to 710 shots per full charge.
