Sony FX3 Cinema Line full-frame E-mount camera records 4K UHD (3840×2160) up to 120 fps. It offers more than 15 stops of dynamic range for varied lighting conditions. Standard ISO 80–102,400 can be expanded to 409,600. Phase-detection autofocus covers most of the frame, and fast hybrid AF supports accurate focus even at shallow depth of field and 4K 120 fps, with tracking to keep subjects in focus.
FX3 records internal 4K in 10-bit 4:2:2 using Long GOP and All-Intra. For post-production, 16-bit RAW can be output via HDMI to external recorders using XAVC HS 4K, XAVC S 4K, or XAVC S-I 4K. Proxy files are recorded simultaneously. RAW output resolution is 4264×2408.
S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine support wide dynamic range and easier matching with other Cinema Line cameras in post. HLG HDR allows direct HDR playback on compatible TVs without post-processing. S-Cinetone color, developed for the FX9, provides rich color and natural skin tones consistent with Cinema Line cameras.
Front and rear recording tally indicators show when recording is active. The 3-inch 1.44M-dot side-opening LCD enables flexible positioning and better visibility on gimbals; touchscreen controls are supported. Full-size XLR connectors are available on the removable handle. Three audio recording formats are supported, including 24-bit 4-channel. Remote control via Wi-Fi or USB Type-C is supported using a smartphone or tablet.
