Sony HDR-CX900E Full HD camcorder features a 1-inch Exmor R sensor, BIONZ X processor, and a 29 mm Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 12× optical zoom and 24× Clear Image zoom. The Exmor R CMOS sensor has a photosensitive area about 4.9× larger than 1/2.88-type sensors. The BIONZ X processor improves color reproduction and delivers high image quality and resolution. Additional processing functions include pixel-level super resolution, motion shooting mode, SteadyShot optical stabilization, and dual video recording.
Sony HDR-CX900E supports HD (1280×720) recording at 120p for up to approximately 5× slow-motion playback when recording in XAVC S. XAVC S is designed for 4K/HD recording and is based on the professional XAVC format. HD recording at 50 Mb/s enables high-quality capture even for fast-moving subjects. The camera can record simultaneously in two formats: XAVC S or AVCHD for maximum quality, and MP4. The camera also includes seven picture effects: toy camera, soft high-key, vivid color, posterization, retro, partial color, and high-contrast monochrome, with results visible immediately on the LCD. 5.1-channel surround sound supports professional audio recording (Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2-channel stereo in AVCHD; PCM recording is supported in XAVC S).
A side manual control ring allows quick manual adjustment of aperture, sensitivity (ISO), and shutter speed. Built-in ND filters are available to control light intensity: clear, 1/4, 1/16, and 1/64 ND. The large sensor enables bokeh without forcing slower shutter speeds even outdoors in sunlight. One-touch remote control allows using a smartphone or tablet as a viewfinder or remote controller, and one-touch sharing enables fast transfer of photos and videos. With the PlayMemories Mobile app and NFC support, pairing can be done by simply touching the device to the camera; without NFC, pairing can be done manually.
