Sony SEL 50mm f/1.4 Z T* Zeiss Planar is a fast prime designed for high-contrast, high-resolution images. Developed with Carl Zeiss using the Planar (double Gauss) design. The optical scheme includes two aspherical elements (including one AA element) and one ED element to correct field curvature and other distortions, delivering strong contrast and detail to the edges at any aperture. ZEISS T* coating suppresses internal reflections to reduce flare and ghosting and improve color.
The bright f/1.4 aperture supports low-light shooting and creates soft, natural bokeh with an 11-blade circular diaphragm. SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) ring-type ultrasonic drive provides fast, accurate focusing of large optical groups. The lens includes an aperture ring with a click switch: clicks for stills or smooth silent operation for video.
