Sony SEL 85mm f/1.8 is a medium-tele prime for portrait shooting, delivering strong results and high resolution across the frame in a compact, easy-to-use design. The optical construction includes one low-dispersion element to minimize chromatic aberrations and help control spherical aberration, enabling sharpness and, when desired, soft bokeh. A 9-blade circular diaphragm renders bokeh highlights.
Focusing is driven directly by a dual linear motor for quiet operation and very precise autofocus. The focus hold button can be assigned additional functions (e.g., eye AF). Manual focus is controlled via a wide, responsive ring. A sealed body with dust and moisture protection improves reliability in challenging conditions.
