Using x-Rite ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 targets and dedicated software provides highly accurate color control in photos. The kit includes 4 targets for white balance and gray reference, a 24-color patch chart, and a target for creative color control. For best results, the target should be placed directly in the area of the key subject in the frame. The Classic Target (24 colors) is used to create a camera profile under specific lighting conditions, while the Creative Enhancement target is used for creative color grading: neutralization and stylized looks, checking and evaluating details in highlights and shadows, and controlling color shifts.
Dedicated PC software is available on the manufacturer’s website; required free disk space is 2 GB. A common requirement for all operating systems is having the latest updates installed. More detailed PC requirements are provided on the manufacturer’s site.
Please note: do not leave the target in direct light and do not touch the reference panels with your fingers. If one patch is damaged, the full cost of the target must be paid as a penalty.
